The Department of French at Dalhousie University is accepting applications for its Master of Arts program in French studies.

The MA program covers French and francophone literature and culture, linguistics, and second language acquisition studies.

Students can choose between thesis-based and non-thesis MA program options.

The program accommodates both full-time and part-time students. Full-time students must complete at least one year of intensive study, while part-time students may take up to 15 credit hours (equivalent to five single-term courses) per academic year.

Qualification Requirements

Student must have:

  • Four-year Bachelor‚Äôs degree
  • Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B average) in the last 60 credit hours of study
  • Degree granted by university of recognized standing
  • Students must also have a minimum average of B+ and must possess a high level of proficiency in French.

English language requirement:

  • Internet-based TOEFL (Academic iBT): 92
  • MELAB: 85
  • IELTS: 7
  • CAEL: 70 with no band score lower than 60
  • Dalhousie College of Continuing Education (CCE): A-
  • Pearson English Test PTE Academic: overall score of 65 and nothing below 54
