Among all the feedback we gather in the English Department, students repeatedly mention being drawn to Dalhousie's MA and PhD programs in English Literature due to our faculty's exceptional research and teaching expertise, paired with the department's close-knit and collaborative environment.

Our graduate programs maintain a highly selective intake: approximately 15 MA candidates annually and just four new PhD students. At any given time, around 30 graduate students have workspace in the Department. Typically, 19 of them enroll in our graduate seminars, with five offered each in Fall and Winter terms. These seminars foster collaboration, and students working on qualifying exams or theses benefit from direct access to their advisors.
