Challenges surrounding water and energy security, climate shifts, and ecological deterioration impact nearly everyone across all professions worldwide. Dalhousie's Environment, Sustainability and Society (ESS) program lets you examine how these pressing environmental concerns intersect with poverty, global interconnectedness, consumer habits, and city growth. You'll develop expertise to become an influential leader in your professional field.

Your ESS specialization pairs with another major based on your selected undergraduate degree.

Dalhousie's interdisciplinary ESS curriculum reveals connections between sustainability topics and various sectors you might pursue. Foundational ESS classes equip you to examine diverse concepts involving resources, climate patterns, demographics, and beyond.

First-year studies start with introductory overviews of Environment, Sustainability and Society principles. These foundational classes prepare you for advanced exploration in areas like eco-policy development and worldwide environmental stewardship.
