The Bachelor of Engineering - Building Systems Engineering (BSE) co-op program examines current and emerging technologies in modern building operations. Students gain expertise in building automation, control systems, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer while designing mechanical, electrical, and control systems for optimal energy efficiency. BSE students work extensively with digital design tools, including building information modeling (BIM) software, to incorporate sustainable features and automated systems into both new constructions and existing urban infrastructure.
Through hands-on projects, students tackle authentic engineering challenges while honing project management abilities, collaborative skills, and environmental stewardship. The curriculum progresses from fundamental concepts to sophisticated applications, with students applying cutting-edge technologies and theoretical principles to residential, commercial, and industrial building projects of increasing complexity.
