At Concordia University of Edmonton, you can pursue your music education through either a comprehensive 4-year major program or a focused 3-year concentration. The curriculum covers diverse musical disciplines such as performance studies, theoretical foundations, composition techniques, conducting, historical perspectives, sacred music, therapeutic applications, digital music production, aural skills development, and teaching methodologies. Concordia welcomes students from all academic backgrounds to audition for our vibrant music ensembles, which feature the renowned Concordia Concert Choir and Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, specialized chamber groups are available for those interested in intimate ensemble performance. All ensemble participation earns academic credit toward your degree.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants to Bachelor of Arts degree programs who present high school qualifications when seeking admission to the first year of university studies must normally present a minimum admission average of 60% with a passing grade in each subject.

English Language proficiency examinations, taken within the last two years, as described below:

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) iBT (internet-based test) score of 80 or PBT (paper-based test) score of 550.

IELTS (International English Language Testing System), ACADEMIC. The minimum satisfactory score is 6.0 with no band below 5.5.

MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery). The minimum satisfactory score is 80.

CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language Assessment). The minimum satisfactory score is 60 with scores of at least 50 in Listening, Reading and Speaking, and 60 or higher in Writing.

CLB (Canadian Language Benchmark). The minimum satisfactory score is 6.

Pearson Test of English (Academic). The minimum satisfactory score is 54.
