The master's program in translation studies provides comprehensive knowledge about translation's significance and applications within globalized, culturally diverse settings. Students will work between French and English in both directions. Two program tracks are available: a professional (non-thesis) option emphasizing practical skills for becoming an accredited translator in Canada's bilingual context, or a research (thesis) option involving either theoretical/historical analysis of translated works or literary translation with substantial critical commentary. Through the Department's strong industry connections, students can complete professional internships. The program features an engaging academic atmosphere with small class sizes and dedicated faculty. Located in Montreal - the world's second-largest Francophone city after Paris - the university offers an exceptionally rich environment for translation studies.
