The Psychology PhD program focuses heavily on research, with students typically specializing in one of four key research fields: behavioral neuroscience, clinical and health studies, cognitive science, or human development processes. Participants can select between two distinct pathways. The Research Pathway caters to those aiming for careers in academic research or industry, while the Research and Clinical Training Pathway combines research with professional psychological service training, opening doors to careers in healthcare, policy-making, and beyond. This clinical training option holds accreditation from both the Ordre des Psychologues du Quebec and the Canadian Psychological Association. Our department cultivates future research leaders through cutting-edge laboratory experiences.

Investigating typical and atypical human development throughout life stages.

Exploring the foundations, characteristics, influences, and interplay of cognitive functions, emotional responses, perceptual skills, motor capabilities, personality traits, and social competencies. Childhood and adolescent studies encompass: language learning and bilingualism, socio-emotional and cognitive development in both typical and at-risk young children, family and peer dynamics, gender differences and socialization, as well as factors influencing successful transitions between life phases. Aging research focuses on adapting to age-related changes, lifestyle factors preserving elderly capabilities, and the evolution of cognitive functions, language skills, social behaviors, life satisfaction, and personality traits over time.
