The Doctor of Philosophy in Building Engineering represents the pinnacle of academic achievement in this discipline, enabling candidates to develop specialized knowledge through rigorous research. Students will enhance their analytical skills by undertaking focused coursework and producing a dissertation guided by our faculty advisors. Potential research areas encompass building technology, project management, sustainable energy solutions, and urban infrastructure renewal. Collaborative research with industry partners is strongly supported when feasible.
To be considered for admission on a full-time basis, applicants normally must hold a master’s degree or equivalent with high standing in engineering or computer science, or in a cognate discipline. Holders of bachelor’s degree will, in general, be considered for admission to a master’s program only. After completion of a minimum of two terms of full-time study, they may, upon application, be considered by the Faculty Graduate Studies Committee for admission to a PhD program.
