As an ecology student, you'll investigate how organisms interact with each other and their environment - including soil, air, water, and solar energy. This program equips you to research ecological systems, conserve living resources, promote sustainability, advocate for biodiversity, and safeguard our planet.
Our Biology Department offers cutting-edge computer and teaching labs featuring modern ecological research tools. With small class sizes, you'll develop close mentoring relationships with faculty. The Ecology track builds on core Biology courses with specialized ecological studies. Through hands-on labs, interactive lectures, and tutorials, you'll: Examine population dynamics including competition, predation, and symbiotic relationships. Investigate evolutionary processes, ecosystem diversity, and organismal biology. Gain practical skills in field research, molecular ecology, and statistical analysis. The optional Co-op program provides 12-16 week paid placements with research institutions, environmental organizations, government agencies, and universities across Canada.
Additional Requirements for Cegep Students: Mathematics 103 or 201-NYA and 203 or 201-NYB and 105 or 201-NYC; Physics 101 or 203-NYA and 201 or 203-NYB and 301 or 203-NYC; Chemistry 101 or 202-NYA and 201 or 202-NYB; Biology 301 or 101-NYA or Natural Science DEC or DEC integre en sciences, lettres et arts. Minimum Cut-off Averages: Minimum cut-off averages should be used as indicators. The cut-off data may change depending on the applicant pool. Applicants who meet the stated minimum requirements are not guaranteed admission to these programs. Quebec Cegep (CRC): 23.000 (Honours: 28.000); Canadian High Schools: 75 per cent (Honours: 85 per cent); U.S. High Schools: 2.8 (Honours: 3.3); University Transfers: C+ (Honours: B+); International Bacc. (IB): 28 (Honours: 33); Bacc. Français: 11/20 (Honours: 14/20); Science programs require completion of Serie S (Sciences) Bacc. Francais. Make sure you also meet Concordia’s minimum admission requirements. Quebec: You must complete a two-year, pre-university program or a three-year professional DEC (Diplome detudes collégiales). CRC minimum requirements for admission vary between 19.000 and 30.000; however, based on space availability, students below this average may be considered. Other parts of Canada: You must be a high school graduate, depending on which province you are from. Applicant from other countries must have the requirements equivalent to Canada. English language requirements: Direct Admission: TOEFL (paper-based) score between 540 and 576. Conditional Admission: TOEFL (paper-based) score between 505 and 539; MELAB minimum score of 74, 2 on speaking tests; CAEL minimum score of 50; CAE minimum score of C; CPE (advanced qualification for proficient users only) minimum score of C.
