For those aspiring to create music professionally, Concordia's Music Major provides the adaptability to shape your career path - whether in composition, songwriting, performance, artist management, or music therapy.
Through coursework and hands-on experience in our studios and practice facilities, you'll develop essential skills, understanding, work ethic, and practical knowledge. Following your foundational year, you can transition into specialized Music Performance or Composition tracks or maintain the broader Major option. The program enables you to: Explore musical composition, songcraft, arrangement and orchestration techniques, Participate in University/Chamber Choir, Contemporary Ensembles, or innovative Transdisciplinary projects, Present an original capstone performance during your final year
Graduates emerge with the expertise, talent, and dedication to thrive as professional musicians or continue to advanced studies. Facilities include fully-equipped practice and recording spaces, plus access to more than 25 maintained pianos including seven concert grand models. Performance opportunities span Concordia's excellent concert halls and local venues.

Admission to most programs is based on portfolio/audition evaluations as well as academic grades. Applicants selected for admission have normally achieved grades that exceed minimum requirements.
English language requirements: Direct Admission: TOEFL (paper-based) score between 540 and 576. Conditional Admission: TOEFL (paper-based) score between 505 and 539; MELAB minimum score of 74, 2 on speaking tests; CAEL minimum score of 50; CAE minimum score of C; CPE (advanced qualification for proficient users only) minimum score of C.
