Actuaries apply advanced mathematical and statistical techniques to address challenges related to risk and uncertainty. This program equips students for actuarial careers in insurance, pension consulting, investment banking, and various financial sectors. Participants in the program: Gain comprehensive training in mathematics, statistics, and probability theory. Master analytical models for addressing financial uncertainties. Study computer science, accounting, finance, and economic principles. Adopt a multidisciplinary perspective by incorporating social sciences and humanities into actuarial problem-solving.
The Co-op option provides valuable paid work experience with insurance providers or consulting firms as actuarial assistants or analysts. Co-op participants: Acquire proficiency in industry-standard actuarial software. Perform calculations for defined benefit plans and generate pension documentation. Hone professional report-writing skills. Gain practical knowledge of documentation standards and methodologies
Our curriculum holds provisional accreditation from the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA). Graduates qualify for exemptions from four preliminary professional examinations administered by the Society of Actuaries and the Casualty Actuarial Society. Concordia University has earned recognition as a Centre of Actuarial Excellence from the Society of Actuaries.
