The Education and Skills for Employment initiative aims to enhance career opportunities for individuals with cognitive disabilities across diverse employment sectors. Using personalized learning strategies, the curriculum familiarizes participants with essential job skills, allows them to showcase their employment preparedness, and creates pathways for continued education and career advancement locally and elsewhere. This initiative blends engaging classroom instruction with hands-on community work experience.
Participants in the Education and Skills for Employment program must fulfill practical work placements as part of their studies. These real-world training components are crucial, enabling students to implement classroom knowledge in actual work settings. The College of the Rockies collaborates with local organizations to arrange suitable placements. When necessary, participants receive Job Coach support to facilitate positive outcomes for both students and employers.
