The Child and Youth Care program equips you with the expertise to champion the needs of young individuals and their families, empowering them to become more self-reliant and express themselves with confidence.
This three-year advanced diploma explores the core principles, philosophies, and approaches of relational child and youth care through developmental, ecological, and youth-focused lenses (1). The curriculum addresses professional boundaries, mental health in young populations, psychological concepts, therapeutic approaches, crisis management, intervention techniques (including group, individual, and family counseling), abuse prevention, advocacy work, and anti-oppression practices.
Upon completing this program, you'll be prepared to deliver preventive measures, early support, comprehensive assessments, therapeutic interventions, and counseling services to children and teens facing psychological difficulties, crisis situations, or various stressors. Your training will position you as a crucial contributor to mental health services, enabling you to offer transformative assistance grounded in strength-based methodologies.
