The Master of Computer Science (MCS) program is a collaborative initiative between Carleton University's School of Computer Science (SCS) and the University of Ottawa's School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, administered through the Ottawa-Carleton Institute for Computer Science (OCICS). This graduate program enables students to enhance their skills through coursework and research across diverse fields including algorithms, cybersecurity, parallel computing, game development, computer visualization, robotics, and geographic information systems. MCS candidates can choose from more than 50 courses provided by OCICS at either institution. Most students undertake a year-long specialized research project in their chosen field. Those in the co-op option may secure up to eight months of employment with regional technology firms.
Additional program options include an MCS concentration in Human-Computer Interaction and a Master of Applied Science in Biomedical Engineering.
Students may also pursue a Data Science specialization.
