The Graduate Diploma in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership equips working professionals with advanced knowledge and competencies to navigate the evolving landscape of philanthropic and leadership challenges.

This diploma program complements our pioneering Master of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership (MPNL) degree - Canada's first of its kind - which develops future innovators and leaders across nonprofit organizations, social enterprises, grantmaking foundations, development offices, and related sectors in government, finance, and business.

The flexible program structure enables students to pursue their studies without geographical relocation.

Our graduates develop bold, critical thinking skills and gain deep understanding of contemporary issues in both domestic and international philanthropic sectors, applying their expertise to address practical challenges. Alumni secure leadership roles across diverse organizations including nonprofits, foundations, government agencies, social enterprises, and corporations.

Both MPNL and DPNL programs commence in summer with preparatory online coursework starting in May (including readings, discussions, and preliminary assignments), followed by a two-week intensive Summer Institute at Carleton University. Subsequent coursework is delivered through various formats: online learning, hybrid models (combining in-person and virtual instruction), intensive week-long sessions, and an additional Summer Institute for MPNL candidates. MPNL and DPNL students share classes, with program duration being the sole distinguishing factor.
