The PhD program provides two specialized tracks:
social transformation geography, focusing on global economic systems; structural shifts and ecological concerns; evolving cultural landscapes; gender-focused geographical studies
environmental dynamics geography, concentrating on ecological processes and human influences; assessment and governance of natural resources
Students may also pursue an interdisciplinary concentration in Political Economy.
Ottawa boasts exceptional research facilities for geographers, including the National Library and Archives of Canada, the Canada Centre for Remote Sensing, Statistics Canada, and multiple federal agencies.
