Graduates of CapU's Paralegal Diploma program find employment with law firms, corporate legal departments, and government offices, working alongside lawyers to handle engaging and meaningful legal tasks.
The paralegal curriculum emphasizes hands-on legal education, covering diverse practice areas such as legal analysis, document preparation, research, litigation processes, tort law, family law, office management, contract law, property transactions, and client interviews.
High school graduation
English 100 level or higher course (B- or higher) or
CMNS 159 (B+ or higher) or
LPI exam (level 5 or higher) or
CAEL (70 or higher)
One of the following:
Two years full-time post-secondary education (with an academic focus) or
One year full-time post-secondary education (with an academic focus) plus relevant life/work experience or
Relevant life/work learning experience at the discretion of the department
English Language Requirements:
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): 83 (internet-based score), 560 (paper-based score).
ELA (English Language Assessment Test): 145
Academic IELTS (International English Language Testing System): 6.5 overall and no one scores less than 6
CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language Assessment Test): 70
PTE (Pearson Test of English - Academic): 56
DET (Duolingo English Test) - 125 or higher with no sub-score less than 115.
