The program is designed to let you work while completing your certification. Classes typically meet in the evenings across an eight-month timeframe.
Upon completing this program, participants will gain the skills to direct both choral and instrumental groups with competence and assurance.
Program objectives
Master conducting techniques across all time signatures, including subdivisions, entrances, releases, articulations, phrasing, metric changes, tempo shifts, dynamic variations, and expressive interpretation.
Evaluate musical scores for both rehearsal and performance, focusing on the elements outlined in objective 1.
Recognize technical aspects, as well as areas for improvement, in fellow conductors' techniques.
Lead productive rehearsals for either vocal or instrumental ensembles.
Demonstrate proficient conducting skills with or without a baton, utilizing independent hand movements.
Two-year Diploma of Music or
Bachelor of Music Degree or
Bachelor of Education Degree or
Performance or Teacher's ARCT from Royal Conservatory of Music or equivalent

ELA (English Language Assessment Test): 145
Academic IELTS (International English Language Testing System): 6.5 overall and no one scores less than 6
CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language Assessment Test): 70
PTE (Pearson Test of English - Academic): 56
DET (Duolingo English Test) - 125 or higher with no sub-score less than 115.
