Learning on the coastal edges of Cape Breton Island, encircled by the untamed shoreline and vast Atlantic waters, creates an undeniable sense of being exactly where you belong. This rings particularly true for students pursuing nautical science, a field brimming with professional possibilities. The setting couldn't be more ideal.
In collaboration with the Canadian Coast Guard College (CCGC), the Bachelor of Technology (Nautical Science) offers a distinctive curriculum centered on maritime safety and ecosystem preservation. Whether aiming for careers in marine engineering, navigation, or ship command, students master essential skills including watch protocols, environmental emergency protocols, and lifesaving operations.
The program emphasizes practical learning, teaching trainees to handle diverse vessels across various marine and icy environments. Participants grow adept at managing multiple shipboard engineering mechanisms, from hydraulic networks and power plants to climate control and electrical frameworks. Advanced propulsion simulators complement real-world training at both the CCG College and aboard actual vessels at sea.
Please note, students must apply directly through the Canadian Coast Guard College for the Bachelor of Technology (Nautical Science) program, not through CBU.
