Develop the expertise and understanding required for careers in diverse addiction treatment environments through immersive, experiential education. Grounded in the Medicine Wheel's holistic philosophy, the program emphasizes addressing the underlying factors of addiction in Indigenous populations. Students will explore both cultural traditions and contemporary techniques in addiction therapy. Instruction spans from pharmaceutical studies to ancestral practices such as Sacred Circles, TeachingLearning Circles, and working with the four sacred medicines: tobacco, cedar, sage, and sweetgrass. This program includes a practical fieldwork component. The learning outcomes reflect final demonstrations of knowledge and skills mastery. These outcomes are interconnected and should be considered as an integrated framework rather than separate elements. Collectively, they showcase the comprehensive, synthesized learning attained by program graduates.
