Our institution boasts state-of-the-art equipment that leads the industry. Unlike many schools that restrict cutting-edge tools to research purposes alone, Brock's facilities serve dual roles in both education and investigation. This practical approach to learning produces exceptionally capable scientists. As a student, you'll actively contribute to research initiatives through specialized courses and compensated summer projects, potentially even collaborating on published works.
Our curriculum emphasizes fundamental chemical concepts and their application across organic, inorganic, analytical, physical, and theoretical chemistry, with particular focus on interdisciplinary areas like bio-inorganic chemistry, bio-organic chemistry, and chemical biophysics. Faculty research explores diverse areas including innovative chiral ligand development, organometallic reagents, asymmetric synthesis techniques, sustainable chemistry practices, protein affinity studies, protein-lipid dynamics, and anticancer drug structure-activity relationships. Additional research directions encompass molecular material self-assembly through ligand design and crystal engineering, novel ligand frameworks for main-group compounds, cutting-edge laser spectroscopy and microscopy techniques, advanced nanomaterial fabrication, organic substance characterization, and trace contaminant detection. Theoretical investigations concentrate on charge and energy transfer mechanisms within photosynthetic proteins.
