Our institution boasts state-of-the-art equipment that leads the industry. Unlike many schools that restrict cutting-edge tools to research purposes alone, Brock utilizes all facilities for both education and investigative work. Our focus on practical experience produces exceptionally capable graduates who excel in scientific fields. As a student, you'll actively contribute to research initiatives through specialized courses and compensated summer projects, potentially even collaborating on published works.
The curriculum emphasizes fundamental chemical concepts and their application across diverse research areas including organic, inorganic, analytical, physical, and theoretical chemistry, with particular attention to interdisciplinary studies in bio-inorganic, bio-organic chemistry, and chemical biophysics. Departmental research explores numerous cutting-edge areas: creating innovative chiral ligands and organometallic compounds, advancing asymmetric synthesis techniques, sustainable chemistry solutions like bacterial degradation of aromatic compounds, novel approaches to natural product synthesis (particularly morphine alkaloids), development of fluorinated anesthetics and synthetic oligosaccharide conjugates, molecular material engineering through ligand design and crystal assembly, organic electrochemical processes, photosynthetic energy transfer via electron spin resonance studies, NMR spectroscopy applications, organometallic mass spectrometry techniques, quantum and computational chemistry methods, pesticide and trace element detection, protein interaction studies with lipids and affinity labeling, plus structure-function analysis of anticancer drugs.
