The program provides an extensive selection of language courses spanning from introductory to advanced levels, covering topics like translation theory and practice, Italian regional studies, and language teaching methods. Students can explore Italian literature, culture, film, art, and architecture, with certain courses available in English for non-majors. You'll study renowned figures including Dante, Petrarch, Machiavelli, Pirandello, Eco, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, De Sica, Fellini, and Bertolucci. Small upper-level classes and modern multimedia facilities create an exceptional, tailored learning environment. Alongside Italian-taught courses, the Department provides English-language options (marked SCLC) that may count toward an Italian degree.
