The study of classics and classical archaeology delves into ancient Greek and Roman civilizations, shedding light on the roots of modern artistic expressions, literary traditions, and societal structures.
Within our Classics and Archaeology Department, students investigate ancient languages, historical events, artistic creations, and archaeological findings through multifaceted approaches that foster deep connections with antiquity.
We provide diverse hands-on learning experiences, from recreating historical banquets to museum curation and archaeological fieldwork both locally at Brock University and internationally. During summer sessions, students can participate in Mediterranean excavation projects and cultural study tours for direct engagement with ancient artifacts and heritage.
For students seeking flexibility, our Classical Civilization track allows for personalized academic paths in classical studies, with no mandatory coursework in ancient Greek or Latin languages.
