Cabinetmakers possess skills that extend far beyond cabinet construction. Through the Cabinetmaker (Joiner) Foundation Certificate program, students gain expertise in diverse specialties including cabinetmaking, architectural woodwork (millwork), furniture crafting, marine interiors, and commercial fixture production.
Job responsibilities differ across these fields. Some workshops may require cabinetmakers to interpret technical drawings, conceptualize projects, create precise schematics and material lists, fabricate components, assemble pieces, and apply finishes. Other workplaces might focus on specialization within specific aspects of the process.
This training equips learners with fundamental skills for starting positions in the cabinetmaking industry. Combining essential theory with practical workshop experience, the program develops proficiency in basic interior woodworking. Graduates earn recognition for completing level one apprenticeship technical training and receive
475 credited work hours toward their trade certification. To achieve full qualification, graduates can pursue apprenticeship opportunities and enroll in advanced Apprenticeship Training programs.
