The Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering (BEng Electrical) is a four-year undergraduate program designed to equip students for professional careers as Electrical Engineers. This program provides comprehensive training in engineering principles, analytical techniques, and design methodologies, while fostering the problem-solving abilities essential for engineering success.
During the first year, the BEng Electrical curriculum aligns with the Diploma of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology (ECET), offering students flexibility in their educational pathway. Upon completing the initial year, students may opt to pursue the technology diploma or apply for the more advanced engineering degree track, which involves three additional years of intensive study.
The BEng Electrical holds official recognition as a bachelor's degree from the BC Ministry of Advanced Education and maintains national accreditation through the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB). The curriculum covers diverse technical disciplines while enhancing communication abilities, management competencies, and professional development. Students gain practical experience through a four-month work placement before graduation. (Refer to the program details page for comprehensive information). The culminating capstone project during the final year challenges students to tackle complex, industry-relevant engineering design problems, often in collaboration with corporate partners.
