Physics serves as the foundational pillar of the Natural Sciences. This field examines how matter and energy interact at their most basic levels, successfully uncovering many of nature's deepest mysteries. It spans various specialized areas such as astrophysics, electronics, particle physics, and condensed matter physics. The Honours program offers an in-depth curriculum designed to equip students for immediate progression into Master's or Doctoral studies in physics. Most honours graduates (along with some majors) pursue advanced degrees, with recent alumni details available on the Students page. The Major program provides a thorough physics education, preparing students for careers in industry, teaching, or graduate studies after completing additional requirements. This program includes ample elective options, enabling students to pursue a minor or even a second major in a complementary field. Additionally, a Science Teaching major is available, combining physics with another scientific discipline like chemistry or mathematics.
