Our program explores law, judicial processes, and justice through multiple lenses. The curriculum integrates various legal systems while examining law through historical, societal, and philosophical frameworks. As one of Canada's rare programs of its kind, our law and justice offering differs from most that concentrate primarily on criminology. Instead, we emphasize legal systems, structures, and methodologies across their contemporary and historical contexts. While criminology analyzes criminal behavior - including its origins, impacts, and economic effects - law and justice provides a broader, more comprehensive educational experience.
Throughout this four-year degree, students gain expertise in the institutional frameworks governing political, social, and economic interactions. The curriculum covers diverse legal domains including civil, criminal, family, corporate, constitutional, and contract law. Students explore mainstream, indigenous, and innovative approaches to justice and conflict resolution, alongside comparative, theoretical, and historical analyses. This program fosters an understanding of law as a multifaceted and intricate social construct.
