The Jewellery and Metals program provides an interdisciplinary focus that combines creative thinking, technical mastery, and business acumen with historical context, contemporary relevance, and critical analysis. Develop your design and illustration capabilities alongside analytical and research competencies as you master gem setting, metal casting, repoussé, tool fabrication, mold creation, anodizing, and specialized techniques for unique artistic pieces. This concentration establishes core metalworking skills through hands-on exploration of construction methods, casting processes, and surface finishing. Complementary courses from the Object Design and Fabrication minor and Craft History and Theory enhance the program's curriculum. Participants in this minor will gain experience working with various materials while building bridges between artistic, artisanal, and design fields.
