Acadia's mathematics and statistics graduate program provides a dynamic path to earn your degree by addressing important research challenges while participating in our renowned co-op education program to gain professional experience. The curriculum expands your knowledge base while equipping you to undertake your selected research initiative. Through our co-op option, you can complete eight months of valuable industry work terms or internships. A unique program aspect enables you to connect your work experience with your research focus, enhancing your comprehension of the project's significance and real-world applications.
Students enjoy the benefits of our intimate learning environment – personalized supervision and a customized program – while accessing diverse research opportunities with Acadia faculty. Research areas include Bay of Fundy tidal energy, fractal imaging, graph theory games, statistical learning, big data analytics, computational experiments, cryptography, number theory, scheduling algorithms, and statistical applications across agriculture, biology, and medicine.
Our department collaborates with the Acadia Centre for Mathematical Modeling and Computation, ACENet, and Compute Canada, offering specialized knowledge and computational tools for mathematical problem-solving. The Statistical Consulting Center facilitates involvement in local initiatives and provides research consultation services. Faculty members collaborate with regional businesses, government agencies, tidal power and agricultural sectors, plus national and international enterprises on various projects.
