The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) program involves guided original research, designed for individuals who possess some research background but aren't yet qualified for direct PhD admission. While similar in nature to a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), an MPhil requires a less extensive research commitment. In certain situations, students may transition from an MPhil to a PhD program.
This degree typically takes between 1-2 years of full-time study to complete, with part-time options available.
Western Sydney University must be satisfied that you have the skills and experience to commence independent study at a suitable level for entry into this program.
To be eligible for admission, you must have previously completed at least one of the following qualifications:
Bachelor (Honours Class 1 or Class 2) degree;
Master of Research degree;
Qualifications from a university or other tertiary institution equivalent to the above.
English Language Requirements:
IELTS: 6.5 overall score (min 6.0 in each subtest); TOEFL internet-based score of 82: Writing 21, Speaking 18, Reading 13, Listening 13; Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE): 58 overall; No communication skills less than 50.
