The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) is a supervised research program designed for individuals with prior research training who aren't yet qualified for direct PhD admission.
An MPhil requires less extensive research than a PhD, and in certain situations, can serve as a stepping stone to doctoral studies.
The program duration ranges from 1 year minimum to 2 years maximum for full-time students, with equivalent part-time options available.

Western Sydney University must be satisfied that you have the skills and experience to commence independent study at a suitable level for entry into this program.
To be eligible for admission, you must have previously completed at least one of the following qualifications:
Bachelor (Honours Class 1 or Class 2) degree;
Master of Research degree;
Qualifications from a university or other tertiary institution equivalent to the above.
English Language Requirements:
IELTS: 6.5 overall score (min 6.0 in each subtest); TOEFL internet-based score of 82: Writing 21, Speaking 18, Reading 13, Listening 13; Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE): 58 overall; No communication skills less than 50.
