The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) program involves guided original research, designed for individuals who possess some research background but aren't yet qualified for direct PhD admission. Compared to a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), the MPhil requires a more modest research scope. Under certain circumstances, students may transition from an MPhil to a PhD program. The MPhil can be completed in as little as one year of full-time study, with a maximum duration of two years full-time (or equivalent part-time study).
