The Creative Writing program empowers students to craft original works while honing their editing and publishing skills. They learn directly from published authors, industry editors, and publishing professionals affiliated with the Writing and Society Research Centre, alongside faculty from the School of Humanities and Communication Arts.
Students also explore modern literary studies through various lenses - from critical theory and linguistic examination to genre analysis and textual interpretation. The curriculum includes extensive reading of both contemporary masterpieces and timeless classics. Graduates pursue diverse paths in publishing, education, professional writing, editorial work, and marketing communications.
Students must have Successful completion of Year 12 or an equivalent qualification.
English Language Requirements:
IELTS: 6.5 overall score (min 6.0 in each subtest); TOEFL internet-based score of 82: Writing 21, Speaking 18, Reading 13, Listening 13; Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE): 58 overall; No communication skills less than 50.
