This program has been crafted to address the demands of Australia's government, businesses, and society to interact with Asian nations and their people across various levels, advancing national interests and participating in globalization. It enables students to explore modern Asia, along with the diverse histories, political systems, cultures, and languages of Asian nations, and the global issues influencing Australia's interests and involvement in the region and beyond. The major also incorporates courses focused on the United States and Europe, alongside those on Asia, as well as international relations units covering other global areas. It aims to develop graduates with a comprehensive, liberal education, equipped to facilitate connections between Australia and the world, especially Asia, through political, economic, commercial, cultural, diplomatic, and strategic ties. Students are advised to pursue a sub-major in an Asian language alongside this major. Career prospects include roles in state and federal public service, international organizations, media, business and industry, education, and research.
