Earn a master's degree that makes an impact on industry or community development – in just one year. Victoria University's Master of Research Practice acknowledges prior honours qualifications, enabling you to complete your studies faster.

By recognizing your honours (or equivalent) degree, this master's program requires only two core units in research ethics and project design, letting you start your thesis earlier and graduate more quickly. It's one of several tailored master's programs designed for graduates with diverse academic backgrounds.

Program outcomes
VU's innovative Master of Research Practice enables students to conduct and finalize a supervised research project at the master's level (AQF 9). This is accomplished through introductory coursework units that explore a) research process fundamentals and expectations, and b) relevant disciplinary specializations when applicable. The research journey is further supported through milestone requirements, ensuring continuous guidance and timely, high-quality project submission.

Upon successful completion, graduates will be able to:

Show advanced comprehension of core principles and contemporary discussions regarding research ethics and integrity;
Exhibit knowledge of pertinent national guidelines and university policies affecting research conduct across various environments;
Pinpoint crucial ethical considerations relevant to their specific research area;
Display the ability to analyze and choose appropriate solutions for ethical challenges in their research field;
Articulate and justify ethical positions related to their research practice and project design; and
Enhance advanced academic writing and presentation skills.
