After achieving a 70% average across coursework units, you'll embark on your personalized research project in an area of genuine interest.
Program objectives
VU's innovative Master of Applied Research enables students to conduct and finalize a supervised research project at the master's level (AQF 9). This is accomplished through introductory coursework units addressing a) research process fundamentals and expectations, and b) relevant disciplinary specialization when applicable. The research journey is further supported by milestone requirements that ensure continuous guidance and timely, high-quality project completion.
Upon successfully finishing this program, graduates will be able to:
Exhibit comprehensive knowledge of core principles and contemporary discussions surrounding research ethics and integrity;
Understand applicable national guidelines and institutional policies affecting research conduct across various settings;
Recognize critical ethical considerations specific to their research domain;
Evaluate potential solutions to ethical challenges that may emerge in their research field;
Articulate and justify ethical positions relevant to their research practice and project design; and
Enhance advanced academic communication skills in both written and oral formats.
Completion of an Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in any discipline with an average grade of Distinction (or equivalent) in the final year.
PLUS
Demonstrate English competency sufficient for study at masters level by providing evidence of one or more of the following:
- completion of one or more degrees with English as the language of instruction and assessment, undertaken in a predominantly English-speaking context (within the last two years)
- IELTS (or equivalent) overall score of 6.5 (with no band less than 6.0 in Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking)
- a score of not less than 92 with no section score less than 22 in the internet-based Teaching of English Foreign Language (TOEFL) test, or English proficiency equivalent
- other documented proof of English proficiency equivalent to the above.
