Build a career in crime investigation, prosecution, or criminal defense with VU's combined law and criminology degree.
Our dual Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Criminology program provides comprehensive understanding of crime origins and impacts. You'll acquire specialized knowledge in criminal investigations, sentencing procedures, and security measures across domestic and global contexts.
You'll also develop hands-on abilities for examining crimes and offering strategic guidance regarding criminal activity and its management.
The Bachelor of Laws component meets the academic prerequisites for Australian legal practice certification through the Victorian Legal Admissions Board (VLAB). To qualify as an Australian Lawyer, completion of Practical Legal Training or its equivalent is additionally required.
Upon graduating from this program, students will demonstrate the ability to:
Combine theoretical and practical knowledge of criminology, Australia's legal framework, core legal principles, and specialized legal disciplines;
Evaluate, interpret, and implement comprehensive theoretical and technical understanding of law and criminology across various modern local, international, and comparative scenarios;
Recognize, address, and resolve legal and criminological challenges by critically assessing information to innovatively solve problems and advance justice in real-world professional, community, and international environments;
