Understanding our past has long been fundamental to human consciousness. For over a hundred years, historical research has served as the foundation of Western liberal thought. History intertwines with humanity's quest for purpose, preserving collective memories that shape personal and cultural identities by anchoring us in time and place. Through historical study, we gain the ability to comprehend and connect with diverse civilizations. The History major provides a gateway to explore this rich tapestry of human existence, covering subjects from the ancient Middle East to medieval and modern Europe, revolutionary movements in France and Britain, and the contemporary histories of Russia and America. Our program seeks to both inspire and challenge students as they journey through historical exploration, transcending personal experiences to engage with lives across different eras and regions. We also strive to cultivate an awareness of how historians enhance our comprehension of modern society.
