Harness real-world data to address practical challenges through UOW's Master of Mathematical Sciences (Applied Statistics) program. Statisticians extract meaningful patterns from intricate data and effectively communicate these discoveries to diverse audiences through clear explanations and visual representations.
Applied Statistics employs mathematical principles to design scientific research, conduct surveys, oversee medical trials, and perform environmental assessments. By utilizing mathematical models of variability, it facilitates analysis and prediction across numerous sectors.
This program provides vital competencies transferable to various industries, including analytical thinking, mathematical and statistical modeling, research design, and the capacity to process, evaluate, and derive meaning from extensive datasets.
Your initial year will focus on fundamental mathematics and statistics coursework. In subsequent years, you'll explore advanced concepts while having the flexibility to take interdisciplinary courses in mathematics-dependent fields like finance, engineering, healthcare, and information technology. The program culminates with either a research-based or coursework-focused capstone project.
A bachelor's degree with a major or minor in mathematics or statistics. If applying based on a mathematics or statistics minor, it must include a minimum of 12 credit points of mathematics or statistics subjects at the 200-level or higher.
