The Bachelor of Social Science (Human Services) is designed for individuals dedicated to supporting communities, tackling social disparities, and promoting fairness. This program equips graduates for roles across various human services sectors, including government bodies at all levels, NGOs, community groups, and private providers throughout Australia.
At UOW, the Bachelor of Social Science (Human Services) begins with core social science courses in the initial semester, then focuses on the Human Services specialization. Students can enhance their studies by selecting a minor or elective courses from diverse disciplines university-wide.
The curriculum explores human service delivery systems while evaluating policy development, financial aspects, and governance frameworks. Practical experience is integrated through workplace learning opportunities, including internships with human services agencies.
Applicants need to have achieved the required score in a qualification equivalent to the completion of 13 years of schooling in Australia.
In order to succeed in your chosen course, it is assumed you have completed relevant subjects in your senior high school studies or other relevant qualifications. This is particularly important for degrees which have a strong basis in Mathematics or Science.
