Registered nurses serve a vital function in healthcare, engaging in diverse activities to support individuals with acute, chronic, and complex medical needs. They are essential caregivers for patients, families, communities, and entire populations.
The program offers chances to bridge theory and practice through cutting-edge simulation labs within a nurturing setting before entering real-world clinical placements. Throughout your studies, you'll complete 21 weeks of off-site training across hospitals, clinics, aged care centers, and health services. These immersive experiences let you apply classroom knowledge from lectures, labs, and simulations while providing direct patient care. UOW nursing alumni achieve outstanding career outcomes, with 93.1% securing full-time positions within four months of graduation - significantly higher than the 80.1% national average.
Applicants need to have achieved the required score in a qualification equivalent to the completion of 13 years of schooling in Australia.
In order to succeed in your chosen course, it is assumed you have completed relevant subjects in your senior high school studies or other relevant qualifications. This is particularly important for degrees which have a strong basis in Mathematics or Science.
