The Bachelor of International Studies explores the connections between political systems, social structures, cultural influences, languages, and historical developments across different nations. This program helps you investigate both domestic and worldwide challenges, with particular emphasis on how global dynamics increasingly shape local governance. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in overseas study programs or educational tours.
The curriculum includes foundational courses that establish essential international studies principles, while offering diverse specialization options through subjects like contemporary authoritarian regimes, Australia's foreign relations, United Nations simulations, and comparative studies of Eastern and Western imperial histories.
A mandatory element of this program involves selecting a language specialization, with options including Mandarin, French, Italian, Japanese, or Spanish.
The degree provides supplementary elective credits that enable students to either expand their language study into a full major or pursue an additional specialization from the Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities disciplines.
Applicants need to have achieved the required score in a qualification equivalent to the completion of 13 years of schooling in Australia.
In order to succeed in your chosen course, it is assumed you have completed relevant subjects in your senior high school studies or other relevant qualifications. This is particularly important for degrees which have a strong basis in Mathematics or Science.
