At UOW, the Politics program explores the foundations of power, consent, authority, and consensus that shape social and global structures. Within the Politics Major, students analyze political institutions, culture, class, gender, ethnicity, political economy, theory, and international relations. This major seeks to illuminate how politics functions across various levels—from interpersonal dynamics in private or work settings to national governance and global affairs. Political studies extend beyond current power arrangements to encompass historical contexts and future possibilities. By examining nations, international interactions, or ideological frameworks, Politics enables engagement with intricate concepts about individuals, governance, and society. The Bachelor of Arts (Politics) includes courses on Australian politics, political theory, comparative politics, regional politics, media, political economy, and international security. Students are urged to explore diverse offerings within the Politics curriculum. In the final year, eligible students may apply for internships with political organizations domestically or abroad.
