International Relations is a dynamic, expanding, and continuously developing field tailored for students pursuing careers in international organizations, foreign services, or any entity with a focus beyond Australia. From the most recent peace agreements in conflict areas and aid initiatives to humanitarian missions, trade pacts, or climate discussions, studying International Relations at UOW enables you to grasp the motivations driving the actions of states, international bodies, and various other players in global politics. While pursuing a Bachelor of Arts (International Relations) at UOW, you will develop the ability to apply critical and analytical thinking to real-world problems, enhancing decision-making and practices across business, government, and non-profit sectors. You will explore core topics on the mechanics of global politics, security frameworks, conflict resolution, and the evolving role of the state in the modern era. You will also engage in a model United Nations (UN), where you will exchange ideas and devise solutions to global issues as a mock diplomat, gaining insights into the UN system, negotiation techniques, and policy formulation. A variety of elective courses are available, addressing subjects such as warfare, peacekeeping, international law, and the global political economy.
