The Bachelor of Creative Arts (Creative Writing) equips you with techniques to craft compelling, precise writing while encouraging imaginative expression that resonates with audiences. Writers thrive in diverse fields including poetry, editing, multimedia content, commercial writing, theatrical production, fiction, and innovative hybrid forms. Whether aiming to entertain or inform, creative writers consistently engage with universal human experiences.
This program trains you to refine narrative elements through iterative development. The rewriting process itself becomes a rewarding creative journey.
Foundational coursework covers editing principles, cross-cultural writing, genre studies, modern theory, research methodologies, social justice themes, and children's literature. Alongside your Creative Writing specialization, you'll select a complementary minor or second major from Arts, Social Sciences, or Humanities disciplines. Ideal pairings include English Literature, Languages, Indigenous Studies, or Philosophy.
The capstone project enables students to produce substantial creative work before graduation. Throughout the program, you'll engage with resident artists, participate in public readings, performance opportunities, and publication initiatives. The curriculum encourages experimentation across genres and interdisciplinary creative fusion.
Applicants need to have achieved the required score in a qualification equivalent to the completion of 13 years of schooling in Australia.
In order to succeed in your chosen course, it is assumed you have completed relevant subjects in your senior high school studies or other relevant qualifications. This is particularly important for degrees which have a strong basis in Mathematics or Science.
