Embarking on a graduate research program demands significantly more self-directed thought, organization, and initiative than most students anticipate. While many find this journey both demanding and rewarding, the Graduate Research School offers support and various professional growth initiatives to help you navigate these challenges and maximize your experience. Choosing a research degree presents a distinctive chance to deeply explore a specialized field, dedicating years to advancing knowledge in your selected discipline. This path will test your abilities in original research, analytical reasoning, as well as your time management and troubleshooting capabilities. Developing strong organizational and communication skills is equally essential. Few accomplishments rival the pride of earning your advanced degree. Stay committed to your objectives, and I extend my best wishes for your success.
An applicant is normally considered to have fulfilled the requirements for admission to an HDR course if they can demonstrate they have undertaken supervised individual research where they have designed and conducted a scholarly investigation in the context of an existing body of knowledge.
In exceptional circumstances, consideration may be given to applicants whose qualifications do not meet the definitions of adequate research preparation outlined in the HDR Admission policy (clause 10), where the school/supervisor believes that the applicant is likely to succeed in the course. In these circumstances, admission may be granted to a Masters Degree by Research in the first instance.
