The Engineering Diploma caters to international students who might not meet direct entry criteria, have English as a second language, or whose academic schedules don't align with the University's standard intake periods. This program has several key objectives:
To develop international students' English proficiency to the level required for UWA studies by the Diploma's final term;
To enhance students' academic abilities and learning techniques, preparing them for engineering coursework at UWA by the program's conclusion;
To deliver specialized knowledge that readies students for second-year engineering studies at UWA;
To build students' confidence in discussing complex academic topics with native English speakers;
To familiarize students with Australian academic standards, including hands-on experience with university teaching approaches.
Successful graduates receive an Engineering Diploma with 48 transferable credits, ensuring admission to second-year undergraduate studies in their chosen engineering field. The curriculum strengthens students' language, academic, and mathematical foundations through required and optional courses, creating pathways to specialize in various engineering disciplines including Software, Mining, Mechanical, Environmental, Electrical and Electronic
Engineering, Civil, Chemical, Automation and Robotics, and Biomedical Engineering.
