The Engineering Science Honours program offers students a chance to expand their expertise through advanced coursework and focused research on a chosen topic. During this extra year of study, participants enhance their technical abilities, research proficiency, and communication skills beyond undergraduate levels. This program can be combined with the Master of Professional Engineering (MPE) and is especially valuable for Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) students or those aiming for research careers, including doctoral studies.

Graduates will develop the capacity to: (1) communicate effectively through written, spoken, and visual methods across various situations; (2) critically assess research materials and information sources within their field; (3) develop research questions and design appropriate investigation frameworks; (4) choose and implement suitable methods to examine hypotheses or theories; (5) apply relevant analytical approaches to problem-solving; (6) interpret findings and draw valid conclusions; (7) demonstrate specialized and interdisciplinary knowledge through research projects; (8) acquire lifelong learning skills from diverse sources; (9) organize projects to meet timelines; and (10) maintain professional behavior and self-management in collaborative environments.

Qualification Requirements

To be eligible for admission to your chosen honours course at UWA you must successfully - complete a bachelors degree or equivalent from a recognised university.
Applicants wishing to commence an undergraduate degree at UWA must satisfy the Universitys academic and English language competence ELC requirements to be eligible for a place within the course.
Overseas secondary studies taught and examined in English Secondary teaching and examination in English is acceptable if deemed equivalent to Australian matriculation Year 12 with a pass in the final year English paper completed within two years of application.
IELTS Academic - Minimum overall score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0 must include Academic Reading and Writing modules for all courses.
TOEFL - Internet-based Test iBT An overall score of 82 with a minimum score of 22 in the Writing section 18 in the Reading section 20 in the Speaking section and 20 in the Listening section for all courses.
TOEFL - Essay Rating Test of Written English TWE of 45 and either 230 Computer-based or 570 Paper-based score.
