This master's program offers technical specialists and professional engineers with either a three-year Bachelor of Technology or four-year Bachelor of Engineering the chance to earn an Engineers Australia-accredited professional qualification. Participants will expand their specialized knowledge and skills to prepare for engineering practice.
The Master of Professional Engineering combines professional engineering coursework, discipline-specific subjects, an independent project, and practical experience to develop comprehensive engineering expertise.
Graduates with an Engineers Australia-accredited Bachelor of Engineering should consider the Master of Engineering (C04271) or Master of Engineering (Extension) (C04277) programs instead.
Students can customize their studies to both build upon their undergraduate knowledge and complete a mandatory 12-week professional experience (or equivalent) required by Engineers Australia. The program also features a distinctive independent graduate project in their chosen specialization to develop practical skills and advanced knowledge.
Career Prospects
Postgraduate study in their specialization enables engineering graduates to strengthen their expertise and improve their employment opportunities in relevant engineering sectors.
Applicants must have completed a UTS recognised bachelor's degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate studies.
It is a requirement that the bachelor's degree be in engineering, engineering science or technology and relevant to the applicant's proposed major, with no more than 25 per cent of subjects failed. The major is selected at the time of application to the course.
